These are a Few of My Favorite Things

At this time of year, everyone is looking for a last minute stocking stuffer for someone on their shopping list. If that is you, take a look at this list of stocking stuffers!

These are my top 6 recommendations for stocking stuffers that can come in handy to help with feeding in the first year!

  • Mombella Mushroom Teether:
    • Soft silicone, great for babies as early as 3-4 months
    • Can put over baby’s hand to help with holding onto teether
    • Can be used to suck on protrusions similar to pacifier or chew on molars
  • Ola Baby Sprout Spoon
    • Flat bowl
    • Shorter, soft silicone great for self feeding
    • Can double as a teether
    • Babies love it!
  • Choo-Me cut out spoon
    • Soft silicone
    • Can mash soft foods such as soft cubes like canned pears or carrots into the cut outs
    • Controls the amount baby gets into small pieces
    • Can encourage chewing on molars by giving gentle guidance at the elbow if  baby brings to the front and center of mouth
  • Panda Ear Fresh Food Feeder
    • Can put variety of foods in to get the flavors and juices of a food while still staying safe with only very small pieces if very soft, or no pieces if more difficult to chew
    • Can put soft foods like strawberries or peaches in, up to foods like chicken or steak
    • Can encourage chewing on molars to practice chewing when they are not ready to manage these foods independently
    • Use the smallest piece to make it easier for baby to get to molars
  • Ola Baby straw Cup
    • Silicone cup that is colored but still able to see the liquid volume inside
    • Short straw that makes straw dips easy when starting with straws
    • Lid without straw slows flow to practice open cup drinking without as much mess
    • Can be progressed to an open cup as baby grows and gains independence with cup drinking
  • Take & Toss Straw Cups
    • Great to work on straw drinking when baby doesn’t understand how to suck through straw
    • Parent can squeeze the cup and a small amount of liquid goes up straw to give baby a taste
    • Because of the suction that allows a squeeze assist, you need to keep straw out of liquid when putting lid on or you will have an eruption
    • May want to start with thinned puree as this can be a little overwhelming if too fast for baby
    • When baby starts to suck through straw may need to pace by tilting the cup down or pulling away from baby so that baby doesn’t get too much
